Country Jam for Alexis is coming to Coomera Lodge Hotel on Monday 2nd January for a very special Fundraiser show…
Headlined by Adam Brand with a lineup of special guests including Matt Cornell, Jason McGregor, Brook Chivell & Brooke Supple. Hosted by Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, we hope you will join us as we raise money for 8-year-old Maudsland local Alexis to go to America to undergo life-changing selective percutaneous myofascial lengthening (Cerebral Palsy surgery)!
Unfortunately, when Alexis was born she suffered a stroke which caused her to have cerebral palsy on the right side of her body. Her entire life since she was 12 weeks has consisted of weekly physio and OT, wearing AFOs daily, orthopedic shoes, splints, serial casting, regular gait analysis, many, many hospital & surgeon appointments, botox, days off school, and now has a 2cm leg discrepancy which is growing. Now she needs surgery on her tendons and calf lengthening as well as the tendon transfers and lengthening in her arm, wrist, and fingers as her knuckles have started to collapse… basically surgery on her whole right side.
The surgery in America will be life-changing and will give Alexis the chance to walk on her heels after retraining her on how to walk post-surgery. This specific surgery, along with intense physio and a mollii suit with electrodes that stimulate the nervous system, will give her the opportunity to live a close-to-typical life and help with her dream of going to the Paralympics.
Country Jam For Alexis kicks off from 2pm on Monday 2nd January, so make sure you head down early to get involved in the afternoon’s activities where we will be auctioning a range of music merch & more. Our community means everything here at Coomera and we are proud to be hosting this fundraiser to help raise much-needed funds for this incredible local family.
