The Coomera Lodge Hotel has a long and storied history in the Oxenford area of Queensland. The original hotel, Upper Coomera Hotel, was a wooden Queenslander built by John Matthewson and opened in 1885.
In the Logan Witness newspaper on 19 September 1885, Matthewson announced the opening of the hotel with a free ball and supper, inviting old friends and neighbors to celebrate the occasion. By 1887, the hotel was renowned for hosting large community events, including a dinner for the Upper Coomera Athletics Sports Club, which was praised for its fine Parisian-inspired menu.
Tragedy struck in 1933 when the hotel was destroyed by fire. Despite the loss, the community’s spirit remained strong, and in the 1950s, the hotel was rebuilt and remains a key part of the local landscape.
In July 2021, the Coomera Lodge Hotel underwent a major renovation that honored its history while embracing modern designs, with several outdoor areas, a new bistro, sports bar, and expanded beer garden.
Today, the Coomera Lodge Hotel combines historic charm with a fresh, vibrant atmosphere, offering a wide range of entertainment, dining, and family-friendly activities.
